The Growing Church

Church growth has been a contentious issue for decades in the evangelical church because of the disparity between those who seek to manufacture growth by tickling ears and entertaining the church with carnal means and those who seek to faithfully disciple according to the whole counsel of Scripture—whether it grows or shrinks a congregation. Prairie Chapel has been growing at a pace we could not have predicted a few short years ago. The Lord is the one who determines both our size and our direction, but He has also given us in His Word a pattern for growth and multiplication that results in maturity and faithfulness. Will we be faithful to continue pursuing Christ and what He’s doing in our midst? Can we grow without compromise? How have other churches failed or succeeded in this? Let’s look to God’s Word.
