Two Ways to Build Your Life

After the holiday season, we returned to our series in the Gospel of Matthew, and looked at the two builders at the end of the Sermon on the Mount.

The illustrations of the Lord Jesus Christ are pointed in their clarity and soul piercing in their depth. This final judgment section helps the lost awaken to their reality of being lost without Christ, and reminds believers of their need to build all of life in obedience to Christ.

In neither case is works something that leads to salvation, but in both cases obedience is what evidences a lack of faith on the one hand, or the presence of faith on the other.
