Christ is the Centre of Our Salvation

After showing how Christ is the 'centre of the universe' He created, Paul in these three verses in Colossians now reminds faithful believers that they are not the 'centre of the universe' in their salvation. This text shows how the Gospel is not primarily about people, but about Christ. It has been said that "The Gospel is not hard to understand, it's just hard to swallow." In the era of YouTube and podcasts and diverse teaching only a mouse click away, many things are being overly complicated and infiltrated by human wisdom, often dressed up as insightful modern Christian thinking. In reflecting on how we were saved through the Gospel, we should not only be satisfied by, but confident in the absolute supremacy of Christ over all philosophy and religious ideas, especially in defending God's honour in matters of dispute within the Church.
