Part 4: The Counterfeit Cross

Much of what was presented to Christians over the past two years was NOT a call to sacrificially proclaim the Gospel publicly, but rather a call to sacrifice every biblical means of grace in the church for the sake of the world's agenda.

How is it that extreme liberal and even communist ideas have invaded pulpits around the world? Is the Gospel call to become a slave to world powers and to ignore key passages of Scripture? Throughout the New Testament Christians are warned about false teaching and “a different gospel; which is really not another…” (Gal. 1:6-7). Today, many teachers in the church have pushed their people to embrace behaviours and commands that are not found in Scripture, telling them it is the way they are to love their neighbour, and deny themselves. What is emerging is a counterfeit understanding, both of the cross of Christ and of the cross we are to bear by suffering for Him. We are called not to be like the world, but to suffer for the true Gospel of grace, a message that emphasizes Christ’s merit and not our own. We must recognize today that many Marxist or even socialist or communist ideas are infiltrating churches as Christian leaders use “biblical” sounding language to cause others to embrace them.
