The School of the Golden Rule

In this passage from the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus teaches what has come to be known as the golden rule.

When contrasted with the world’s teaching about treating others how they would want to be treated, we quickly see how completely unique the biblical command is.

Other religions like Buddhism, Confucianism, or even Islam may have versions of this statement, but divorced from the background of the whole of Scripture, such statements are just empty pretexts for behaving according to works righteousness.
