In this passage from the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus teaches what has come to be known as the golden rule. When contrasted with the world’s teaching about treating others how they would want to be treated, we quickly see how completely unique the biblical command is.
If ever there were a privilege in the Christian life, infinitely valuable, yet so lightly treasured, prayer might be it. Yes, everyone values prayer in time of need, but how many live with such total dependence on God every day and at all times?
Jesus continues His warnings about practicing righteousness to be noticed. While last week's message focused on giving to be noticed by others, this week's focused on praying to be noticed by others, as well as praying with meaningless repetition.
